A5 Perfect Bound Books are a half A4 size (148mm x 210mm), it’s a handy size for books.

A5 Perfect Bound Books – Softbound Book Printing

Turn your documents into professional Perfect Bound A5  Books. At www.manual-printers.co.uk, we produce quality perfect bound books, also known as paperback books and softbound book printing.  We are one of the top online book print companies producing 1000’s of books every week.

A5 perfect bound books are a smart and professional way of promoting your business.

Half the size of our A4 Perfect bound books, however, they are still big enough to add nice full-page photos and colourful infographics. Perfect for your company brochure, or advertising a product or service. Softbound book printing is also a great way to present a school prospectus.  Also, as essential to give away at exhibitions and trade shows.

We use the latest Digital Printing Canon machines. This means that we can produce one-off softbound books. For larger runs, we use the Latest Litho Print Presses.

Our Perfect Bound books are available in either A6, A5, A4, DL or 210 x 210mm square size. We also can produce bespoke sizes on request. We offer both portrait and landscape book printing too.

To finish off your softbound book, choose either Gloss, Matt or Softouch finishing options. These options will make your perfect bound book look top quality.

All of our A5 perfect bound books are printed using the latest in Canon digital technology. You will have vibrant colours throughout if opting for colour books and crisp text. Colour covers come as standard. If you can supply a high-resolution cover then your books will be photo quality. All of our paper is FSC accredited. This means that it has been sourced by paper mills that plant more trees than are used to make the paper. This means that the more paper used the more trees are planted. To create your A5 perfect bound books,  all of the printed pages are secured to the spine using a high tack binding glue. This is a strong and flexible binding method that is industry-standard in perfect bound bookbinding. This type of binding is called Perfect Binding.

Sending artwork

If you are sending artwork, you can do this in two ways: 1) upload during Order (for small files up to 10mb only) 2) Upload at Check out 3) uploading to our WeTransfer site Please use your name and order reference when sending files, so we can quickly reconcile against your order

PDF Files

High resolution (300dpi) files are the best for us to work with. Please see the settings below to get the best quality printing.
  • Resolution: Choose High Resolution
  • Compression Settings – For colour and greyscale this should be downsampled to 300dpi with “auto compression” set on high
  • Font Embedding – Should be set to “embed all fonts”
  • The Colour needs to be set as CMYK

Convert all text to outlines and embed all fonts. Save as a PDF file with 3mm bleed and crop marks.

The resolution should be set to 300dpi. Save the file as either JPEG or TIFF. Other files not listed above must be saved either as an EPS or JPEG.

Adobe InDesign Software LogoAdobe InDesign

All fonts and pictures used in your artwork need to be supplied to us in a separate folder using the “package” function under the “file” menu. Zip your files and folders before uploading or sending them to us via e-mail. Please also include a PDF. We can then use the PDF to make sure that nothing is missing or moved.

Artwork Bleed

  • Please supply a 3mm bleed around your artwork.
  • Please ensure that the colour is set to CMYK, not RGB.
  • Please provide crop marks around all your supplied artwork.

Microsoft Office Files

We cannot print straight from the following programmes. However, we can save a PDF file and re-send back to you for proofing.
  • Word
  • Excel
  • Publisher
  • PowerPoint
You can save your Microsoft Office files as a PDF yourself if you would prefer. That way you can see exactly what the printed file will look like. Please note: It is important when supplying a PDF from a Microsoft Office application, that extra care is taken to ensure any spot colours are created correctly in your original document/file. Please supply a screenshot of your Microsoft Office file before conversion. You can do this by following the instruction below for both Mac and PC. Mac: Press ‘Command’ + ‘Shift’ + 3 for a full screenshot, or ‘Command’ + ‘Shift’ + 4 to select an area to screenshot. This will save a PNG file to your desktop. PC: There is a key on your keyboard that says ‘Print Screen’. You can then paste this into a document or email to send over.

How Do You Print Your products?

We use the latest digital print equipment for certain jobs, like smaller run manuals, brochures, printed invitations and cards. For the larger run work like the 5000, 10,000 leaflets or longer print runs we will use Litho Print Machines. When we are printing our Large Format printing like exhibition banners, pull-up banners, and fabric banners we have a fully kitted out Large Format Department.
